Why we sequence disk labs before memory triage

By Jonah Hale

Many newcomers want memory labs immediately because they feel cinematic. We intentionally delay them until disk vocabulary is stable so commands are not magic spells. The first month anchors partition language, timeline intuition, and note-taking rhythm.

When memory arrives, students already know how to write uncertainty sentences that will not embarrass them in a handoff. That single habit saves more time than any plugin bundle we could ship.

We still publish optional memory teasers for curious folks, but the graded path waits until week five in our baseline studio. Instructors report fewer abandoned labs and calmer office hours as a result.

If your team needs a flipped order for internal reasons, talk with us about a private cohort agenda—we will not pretend the public schedule fits every operations reality.
